Children's bookshop, specialising in neurodiversity Shop Now

Love books, passionate about diversity?

We are a small, independent children’s bookshop with BIG ideas. A partnership between a children’s publishing expert and a teacher/Senco. In a little bookshop in Hitchin, Herts. We stock children’s books from baby to young adult and everything in between. We also have a small but perfectly formed selection for grown-ups and we can order pretty much any book that’s currently in print.

We specialise in books that support and celebrate diversity in all its forms, and particularly neurodiversity. We search out books with characters who are autistic, have dyslexia or ADHD, are anxious about school, or who have difficulties with communication and much more! We work with individuals, families, schools and libraries to make sure you can find a book that speaks to you.

We make book recommendations, curate lists to support particular needs, celebrate events, for specific topics and to increase diversity. We also have author events and more.

🎈Calling all local schools & nurseries! Look at this incredible haul of FREE books chosen by pupils from Highover School yesterday! 🎈Using our simple SCHOOLS LOYALTY scheme they were able to toddle off with masses of excellent books to add to their collections.🎈If you’re not familiar, we give card holders a stamp for every £10 spent in the shop. Once a card is full they can opt to donate £10 to a local school of their choice to spend on books! 🎈Approx 3 times a year we tell all schools how much they have and invite them to spend it! Not sure we’ve ever spotted a certain massive online tax avoiding book retailer offering anything similar? 🤔🎈Just ask if any questions but it really is that simple. FREE books for schools gifted by your local community.🎈Schools -if you’d like a stash of loyalty cards to hand out to families please just get in touch.#hitchin #hitchinschools #hitchinparents #hitchintown #stevenageschools #lutonschools #shoplocal #hitchinsmallbusiness #childrensbooks #loyaltyscheme #booksforschools ... We’re very excited to be hosting this event with @naturedockids on Wednesday 13th November in the shop. Tickets are available on eventbrite - cost £5 which will be discounted from the book if you purchase that evening (book is £24)‘Brain Brilliance’ makes the important connection between what children eat and their mood, behaviour and learning’ and it’s a recipe book for the whole family, with a bit of learning about how nutrition can make a difference to neurodivergent lives. This is an event for parents/carers and professionals to find out more about how food can support a neurodivergent brain with hacks and tips to make it simple to fit nutritious food into your busy daily lives. Lucinda will be there to talk to you through her book, answer your questions and sign copies. This is such a perfect fit for our shop, we can’t wait. Please share this far and wide!
