We are a small, independent children’s bookshop with BIG ideas. A partnership between a children’s publishing expert and a teacher/Senco. In a little bookshop in Hitchin, Herts. We stock children’s books from baby to young adult and everything in between. We also have a small but perfectly formed selection for grown-ups and we can order pretty much any book that’s currently in print.
We specialise in books that support and celebrate diversity in all its forms, and particularly neurodiversity. We search out books with characters who are autistic, have dyslexia or ADHD, are anxious about school, or who have difficulties with communication and much more! We work with individuals, families, schools and libraries to make sure you can find a book that speaks to you.
We make book recommendations, curate lists to support particular needs, celebrate events, for specific topics and to increase diversity. We also have author events and more.

We are looking for more volunteers to add to our wonderful group to run 30min storytimes on either Wednesday or Saturday mornings in the shop. Wednesday morning sessions are for babies and toddlers and include stories and singing, Saturday morning sessions are for pre-schoolers + and are a story followed by a related craft. You’ll be able to choose from our large range of inclusive books for your stories, and we provide materials for crafts. ![]()

You’ll be someone who is welcoming, enthusiastic, inclusive, reliable and enjoys telling stories, singing nursery rhymes and creating simple crafts. You’ll know a bit about child development so you can choose appropriate activities for either our baby/toddlers, or pre-school + groups. ![]()
